Did_You_Myth_Me? You worthless bar of lead. Soon, I shall transform you into solid gold!
~ Daedalus

Dr. Daedalus is a character in Inspector Gadget.

Routine[]

Dr. Daedalus is an evil scientist. He informed Dr. Claw of the formula to make gold out of lead. It was discovered by King Croesus about 25.00 years earlier and hidden in a marble carving of Medusa. This Medusa was about to go on display in a new museum on the Greek island of Thermos that was overseen by Professor Musty. Claw ensured Daedalus he would find a way to through the museum's tight security so that they could go into the gold manufacturing business together. Dr. Claw anonymously gifted a full size replica of the Trojan Horse to the museum, and arranged for Daedalus to hide inside together with M.A.D. agents Dick & Fred as it was transported to the museum. The insides of the horse also came equipped with a small laboratory for Daedalus to do his experiments once he obtained the formula.

Daedalus told Dr. Claw he would bet his life on the formula working, to which Claw wickedly replied that he was aware, as Daedalus had already put his life in M.A.D.'s hands. To prove his point, Dick & Fred moved closer to Daedalus, intimidating him. When they passed the security as the Trojan Horse was transported to the island of Thermos by boat, Daedalus informed Dr. Claw. He was slightly perturbed when Claw said that all the gold would soon be his, then correcting himself to include Daedalus in the equation.

After Fred and Dick failed to get the formula as well as to eliminate Gadget, Claw ordered Daedalus to retrieve the formula himself. He quickly found the Medusa and knew exactly which snake on her head to turn to retrieve the formula out of her opened mouth. Ectatic, Daedalus cried out that he was rich at last, only to realize that Dr. Claw might be listening in on him and covering his mouth. Daedelus hurried back inside the Trojan Horse with the formula. Claw ordered Dick to help Daedalus work it out in the Trojan Horse's lab immediately. After reporting to Claw, he was ordered to get to the Trojan Horse's laboratory to work it out, with Dick assisting him.

Daedalus prepared a worthless bar of lead to be transformed into solid gold. He read out the ingredients for Dick to fetch for him. When Dick couldn't find any Tellurium, Daedalus got annoyed and Gadget's niece Penny took advantage of the distraction and stole the ancient formula. But she ran into Fred before reaching the exit, and threw it to the ground. The formula broke into small pieces, but Daedalus only needed one more ingredient, and managed to find it by putting the right two pieces back together.

After completing the formula, Daedalus lowered the bar of lead on a string into it, and when he pulled it back out, the lead had been turned to gold. He then ordered the Trojan Horse to move out into the sea and convert to hovercraft. Penny took control of the hovercraft using her computer book and turned the craft back to Thermos. Crashing into land, the craft flipped over and converted back to horse mode. Inside, the three agents were dazed and confused, and Daedalus discovered that the bar of gold had broken in two, revealing there to be just a small layer of gold covering the lead. Dismayed, Daedalus discovered the formula to be a fraud.

He was eventually found by Chief Quimby and the local police and arrested together with the two agents.
