The Dream Machine is a device created by Dr. Spectrum. It was capable of sending powerful waves of energy across Metro City which caused everyone in range to have nightmares. Spectrum and TV spokesperson Bert Sweetley then offered to sell the people suffering from nightmares Dream Away Machines to act as a remedy. Spectrum also designed a helmet version of the Dream Machine to use on Inspector Gadget, which amplified the effects of the device even more.

History[]
After his phone company robbery, Spectrum designed and built the dream machine to give everyone nightmares, as part of Dr. Claw's plan to make everyone too tired to work.
However, both Claw's and Spectrum's plans were thwarted by Inspector Gadget, which caused the machine to overheat and explode.
