"Dutch Treat" is the 32nd episode of the first season of Inspector Gadget. It is the 34th episode in production order.
Synopsis[]
Gadget hunts for diamond smugglers in Holland (the Netherlands) - the land of tulips and, according to Dr. Claw, chocolate. M.A.D. wants to steal the country's national treasure, the fabled Amsterdiamond.
Gadget had visited the Netherlands before, and visits an old friend, diamond cutter Professor Gilderbrink. But Gilderbrink is kidnapped by Dutch M.A.D. Agent Van der Sweet who tries to force the Professor to cut the Amsterdiamond into smaller pieces so they can be hidden inside chocolate and smuggled out of the country.
Penny investigates the thefts of the diamond and its relationship with a certain brand of chocolates, thanks to a wrapper found at the scene of the crime. Gadget, as always, pursues Brain (disguised as a little Dutch girl) without recognizing him.
They find a chocolate factory inside a windmill, where Gadget ends up completely bathed in hot chocolate and being saved from being guillotined (totally unaware of the danger) while savoring the chocolate.
Finally, he pursues Brain again to where Dr. Claw's smugglers are, just in time to see Chief Quimby and the police arrive. At the last possible moment, Penny saves the Amsterdiamond by swapping it for a replica she had found at the scene of the Professor's abduction, and clandestinely puts the real diamond on the chair as the despondent Professor was about to sit back down.
The episode ends with Gadget and Penny discussing the benefits of good oral hygiene and dental check-ups.

Gadget Goofs[]
- Character Error: Contrary to what Dr. Claw claims early on, Holland (The Netherlands) is famous for producing cheese, not chocolate. Its neighboring country Belgium is famous for producing chocolate. The cheese does get referenced at one point with a weaponized cheese wheel, and it's possible Van der Sweet is actually Belgian.
- Continuity: Gadget was covered in chocolate while chasing Brain, but later when they crash into the room Van der Sweet and the M.A.D. agents were holding Gilderbrink in, Gadget is suddenly clean altogether.
