The Finger Gadgets are several gadgets inside Inspector Gadget's fingers, accessed by taking the end off his finger to expose the gadget. On rare occasions, Gadget uses the command "Go Go Gadget Finger" while holding up the needed diget, which then uncorcks it's top by itself. Later, the Funny Money gang locked Gadget in a room, but he successfully used his Gadget Key to get of this one as well.
Original 1983 cartoon series[]
The finger gadgets include a flashlight, skeleton key, laser, pen, screwdriver, drill bit, snow gun, screwdriver, water pistol and whistle. The thumb and pink of Gadget's right hand work together to form the Top-Secret Gadget Phone.

- Gadget in Winterland:
- Inspector Gadget fired his snow gun (right index finger) to freeze a M.A.D. Agent disguised as a garbage pail (actually Brain in disguise).
- Monster Lake:
- Gadget shoots his laser at door mechanism, but it ricochets and makes the mechanical monster go haywire.
- Gadget uses his screwdriver to adjust the mechanical monster's motor, but his extened arm gets stuck and pulls Gadget into the machinery.
- Down on the Farm:
- Quimby calls Gadget on the Gadget Phone while visiting a department store to direct him to the another department where they can meet.
- The Amazon:
- Gadget is fine-tuning the Gadgetmobile's motor by using his laser and screwdriver. The water pistol finger is also unscrewed, but not seen in use.
- Quimby calls Gadget on the Gadget Phone and tells him to meet him at the airport.
- The Boat:
- Gadget blows his whistle finger while making sure his Gadgets are in perfect order at home.
- Gadget offers a light from his left thumb to a posh guests during the cruise.
- Haunted Castle:
- Gadget ignites his flashlight while exploring Dracula's Castle.
- Gadget uses his skeleton key to unlock a door.
- Gadget the voice command "Go Go Gadget Finger" to have his water pistol finger reveal itself in and to extinguish a large fire.
- Race to the Finish:
- Gadget insists on using his own pen when signing a form to enter the Metropolis 500. But after finding he has put too much ink in it, he waves his arm around, splattering ink all over people surrounding him.
- Gadget uses his snow gun (converted from his water pistol) when he mistakingly thinks the M.A.D. Mobile is on fire.
- The Ruby (epilogue only):
- When Gadget's mitten catches fire while barbequieing, he uses the voice command Go-Go-Gadget Water-Gun (but still removes the cap from his right index finger manually) to spray the mitten with water and douse the fire.
- All That Glitters (epilogue only):
- Gadget attempts to use his Gadget Laser to light a fire while camping with Penny and Brain. When it malfunctions and only sparks come out, Brain hands the Inspector some matches.
- Movie Set:
- Gadget's water pistol appears to activate by itself when the Inpsector faces a fire-breathing mechanincal dragon on a movie set.
- Gadget blows his finger whistle in Lana Lamour's face while demonstrating various gadgets.
- Amusement Park:
- In an attempt to win Penny a prize at a shooting gallery, Gadget used his water pistol in combination with his Gadget Binoculars, but failed to hit the third duck when the booth operator pressed a button to speed up the mechanism. When Quimby appeared disguised as a carnival clown, Gadget still had his water pistol at the ready and accidentelly sprayed Quimby in the face, washing away his clown make-up. He used the water pistol again when trapped in a cage with a group of alligators.
- Art Heist:
- Gadget used his flashlight (left middle finger) extensively while patroling the New York Museum of Modern Art after closing time.
- M.A.D. Trap:
- While investigating a robbery at a local cheesestore, Gadget took notes using his finger pen on a M.A.D. calling card he found. One of the Gadget Hands from his hat took the top of the finger pen for use. While still writing, Gadget noticed that a mother was calling for help as the M.A.D. Agent known as the Rat was stealing her baby's lollypop. Gadget extended his Gadget Legs, then took the top off his right ring finger so he could blow his finger whistle.
- Basic Training:
- Gadget uses his Gadget Key to open a door while investigating a train. Later, while questioning the engineer, he uses his Gadget Laser to destroy a bunch of rocks that were blocking the train's path.
- Sleeping Gas:
- Gadget activated his Gadget Flashlight after entering a dark cave on Dr. Claw's fake island.
- Gadget's Replacement:
- Gadget Goes West (epilogue only)
- Gadget's finger laser accidentaly fires a shot at Brain when Gadget was counting safety tips on his fingers.
- Photo Safari:
- Gadget briefly employed his laser finger in an attempt to cut through vines while traveling the African Jungle. He fired several shots at tree branches, cutting them into logs that fell into neat stacks. When one bird objected, Gadget laughed it off and uttered "Sorry about that." Later, he shot the laser in the air to signal his guide Jungle Bob, but by doing so, cut another large branch of a tree which hit the Inspector on the head.
- The Coo Coo Clock Caper:
- Gadget used his Gadget pen to sign an autograph for the Cuckoo Clockmaker, who claimed to be a big fan of the Inspector.
- The Bermuda Triangle:
- Gadget deployed the Gadget Screwdriver to spin and get him out of a locked oil tanker while wearing his Gadget Respirator.
- Arabian Nights:
- Gadget called on his Water Pistol Finger to wet a handkerchief so he could wear it on his head in the scolding Arabian desert. Unfortunately, apart from one drop, the water inside the finger had dried up.
- Later, convinced the city he was in was just a mirage, Gadget used his laser finger to cut through a wall instead of using the door.
- Dutch Treat
- Gadget used his skeleton key pinky to open the door to his old friend Professor Gilderbrink's shop so he could surprise him. Gilderbrink, who was about to cut a diamond, got such a surprise that his hammer shattered the diamond into miniscule pieces.
- The Great Divide:
- After getting caught in a cave-in, Gadget activated his Gadget laser to cut his way out.
- Doubled Agent:
- Gadget used his screwdriver to perfect the new Gadget he was working on while staying at the farm.
- After being startled by a loud noise, Gadget commanded his legs, laser and light to activate, resulting in himself being catapulted upwards by his legs, hitting his head on the ceiling, and firing his finger laser wildly.
- Plantform of the Opera:
- Gadget used his laser finger to cut a Gadget-sized hole in a door to exit a room filled with gas (which he believed to be the smoking section at La Scampi Opera House.
- Don't Hold Your Breath:
- Gadget uses his skeleton key to open a door in Dr. Claw's underwater base.
- Gone Went the Wind:
- While snowblind Gadget uses his water pistol when he thinks he hears a moose calling for water. He hits the M.A.D. Trapper in the face, freezing his entire head, then removes a icicle which from his finger where the last drops of water have already frozen solid.
- King Wrong:
- Gadget used his finger key to unlock a prison cel in Pianostan he was being held in. He then also freed King Wrong from his cel, presumably using the same key, but only so he they could switch cels.
- Pirate Island:
- Finding himself hanging upside down from a tree with his arms and legs handcuffed, Gadget employed his Gadget Laser to cut his bonds, then used his spring to land on the ground head first without hurting himself. Later, he accidentally fired his finger laser while calling out for his Gadget Cuffs.
- M.A.D. Academy:
- Gadget gets out his screwdriver tool to dismantle a bomb, which he thinks is just a harmless training device.
- No Flies on Us
- Gadget orders "Go-Go-Gadget Key", then unscrews the top of his left pink manually to open a locked enforced prison door. But before he can open it, Brian (disguised as a monkey) enters from the other side, hitting Gadget in the face with the door. Later, Brain used the Gadget Key to unlock the Gadget Cuffs which the Inspector had used on one of Brain's paws.
- Prince of the Gypsies:
- Gadget chose to use his Gadget Laser at the funfair to win the grand prize at a shooting range instead of throwing balls. He soon destroyed the entire stall. Later, he used his Laser once more to cut down a tree to help a wrestler get down.
- In Romanovia, he used his Gadget Key to release King Volla from his Gadget Cuffs, after Gadget had accidentally cuffed one of Volla's legs.
- Old Man of the Mountain:
- Having been thrown into an oven by the all-female Hoopla tribe, Gadget used his Water Finger to douse the flames all around him and turn it into a steam bath.
- Do Unto Udders:
- Thinking a motorcycle cop wants his autograph, Gadget calls for his Gadget pen, but unleashes his Gadget laser on the cop by accident. Later, he dis use his Gadget pen (left middle finger) to make notes.
- Did You Myth Me?:
- Gadget used his flashlight finger (left middle finger) while navitating a maze at Professor Musty's exhibit.
- Gadget used his water cannon, although he called it his Gadget Cattle Prod, to defend himself against the Minotaur. In order to find it, he removed all the caps from the fingers of his right hand.
- A Bad Altitude:
- Having arrived on Everest Island, Gadget blew his whistle and extended his left arm to attract the attention of a taxi driver.
- At the hotel, he wanted to leave a note for Penny, who was still sleeping. But instead of his Gadget Pen, first his Gadget 'Copter deployed automatically, and then his Gadget Skates. Gadget decided to call Penny from town, instead.
- Later, Gadget called for his Gadget Pen once more while being doused with sleeping gas in the backseat of a M.A.D. Taxi cab. This time his Gadget Mallet was activated and broke the window between himself and the driver.
- When spotting a suspect (Brain disguised as a tourist) at a hotel, Gadget blew his Gadget Whistle and deployed his Gadget Domelight as well as his Skates.
- Funny Money:
- At the automat, Gadget uses his Gadget Screwdriver to try to open one of the food slots, but is electrocuted.
- Finding himself in a prison cell with Squint, Gadget used his skeleton key pinky to unlock the bars. Later, Gadget called upon his Gadget Key once more, but his Gadget Mallet deployed insted, hitting Squint on the head and knocking off his glasses. Gadget tried again, but this time his Gadget Domelight was activated. But he next day, having spent the night in jail, Gadget used his key to get out once more.
- In the prison kitchen, Gadget called for his Gadget Flashlight, but his Gadget Legs initially deployed. The flashlight did deploy after that, and Gadget used it to look inside a very dark oven.
- Follow That Jet (malfunction):
- When General Krazy shook Gadget's hand, he did it with such force, that the top fell off his right index finger and the Gadget Laser fired off a shot, destroying one of the Pancake Flats Airforce base consoles.
- Later, the General was blasted by the exhaust of one of the jets leaving unexpectedly, and Gadget used his water pistol to cool the General off.
- Dry Spell:
- Finding the old watering hole all dried up and muddy, Gadget wanted to use his water finger, but only a puff of dust came out.
- Quimby Exchange:
- Gadget used his flashlight to investigate a hole in Nervous Nick DeFecto's cel. Although Defecto was sure it had been dug by two M.A.D. Agents, Gadget concluded that it had been caused by an earthquake instead and that Defecto must have imagined it.
- Unhenged:
- While installing a solar panel on this roof, Gadget calls for his Gadget Screwdriver, but his Gadget Skates deploy instead. The same thing happens again after Gadget completes his mission and resumes his install work at home.
- Snakin' All Over:
- At the 1st Penny Mansion, Gadget used his Gadget pen to write in a notebook held by one of his Gadget Hands extending from his hat.
- Tree Guesses:
- Finding the Canadian cottage he rented half gone, Gadget activated his screwdriver finger, then fell through a hole in the floor.
- Gadget called upon his screwdriver again while checking a conveyor belt at the sawmill, but this time his Gadget Mallet was activated instead.
- Birds of a Feather:
- Gadget used his Gadget Laser to trip the top of the hedges around his house. But when Penny called out to him, his laser cut through the wall and a window of his house as well.
- In a musuem in Istanbul, Brain used Gadget's screwdriver finger to unlock the Gadget Cuffs locked to one of Brain's legs.
- So It is Written:
- After arriving in Fezzug, Gadget accidentally fired his finger laser when asking directions and pointing. He then used his water pistol finger to put out the fire.
- Later, while exploring a cave with Louise Lane, Gadget used his flashlight finger to light the way.
- Fang the Wonder Dog:
- Gadget used his flashlight finger while exploring a dark medieval castle set.
- Later, Gadget called upon his Gadget Key, but the flashlight, screwdriver and laser fingers activated instead.
- Back at home, Gadget used his water pistol finger to spray Brain while giving him a doggie bath.
- Quiz Master:
- At home, Gadget used his screwdriver finger to open the bottom of his toaster, but it fell apart. When the power went out, he called upon his Gadget Flashlight, but his Laser finger was activated instead, melting the toaster. After turning on the flashlight, the Top-Secret Gadget Phone rang, and Gadget used the flashlight to head down into the darkened basement to find the Chief hiding in the washing machine. He continued using the flashlight to read the assignment handed to him by Quimby.
Season 2 (1983 series)[]
- The Great Wambini's Seance:
- At the Great Wambini's mansion, Brain (disguised as a rich woman) used Gadget's water pistol to douse the flames coming from a gargoyle head in the wall.
- The Capeman Cometh:
- When Gadget found himself locked in a large safe in the Metro City Mint, he activated his flashlight because he thought there was a power failure. In a corner, he noticed dynamite tied to an alarm clock, and compared the timer with his own watch, then adjusted it to the correct time. He assumed the clock was valuable, since it was being kept in a safe.
- Crashcourse in Crime:
- After setting of an alarm at the Metro City Museum with his Gadget Mallet, Gadget used his Laser Finger to shut off the alarm, declaring it a false alarm.
- Later, Gadget used his laser to cut the door off an armored truck, suspecting it to be a M.A.D. vehicle, and demanded the drivers to identify themselves. He used the laser again to cut an entrance in the side of a cruiseship (mistaking it for a warehouse) from underwater. And once more to cut through several steel bars protecting his Gadget House.
- Gadget's Gadgets:
- After inflating his Gadget Coat, Gadget uncorked his pen finger and used it's point to puncture his coat, thereby deflating it.
- Finding himself strapped into a wheelchair at Noodleman's Clinic, Gadget used his laser finger to release himself.
- The Incredible Shrinking Gadget:
- Finding himself locked in Penny's dollhouse, Gadget used his skeleton key to unlock the door and get out.
- Ghost Catchers:
- Attending a costume party, Gadget is offered some Beef Tartare. Learning this is raw beef, he decides to cook it using his laser finger. The entire plate burst into flame.
- Busy Signal:
- Offering to help M.A.D. Agent with putting his van back together, Gadget used his laser finger to cut a piece of a car door, saying he loved mechanics.
- Bad Dreams Are Made of This
- After accidentally setting fire to his bed while having a nightmare, Gadget woke up and used his squirt gun to douse the flames.
- At the TV Station, Gadget decided to help fix a large machine using his screwdriver finger.
- Focus on Gadget:
- Gadget used his skeleton key to unlock the door to the anti-gravity room on the space station.
- M.A.D. in the Moon:
- Gadget activated his flashlight finger by voice command (but also took off the top manually) in order to read his assignment, handed to him by the Chief at the Metro City Planetarium.
- N.S.F. Gadget:
- Gadget used his skeleton key to unlock the gates in a prison cell he was sharing with Reginald to get some food and drink off a cart.
- Under the influence of M.A.D.'s crazy gas, Gadget fired his laserfinger at Brain, whom he envisioned to be a spacemonster.
- Tyrannosaurus Gadget:
- Gadget aims his squirt gun at a large sabertooth tiger, but is surprised when sleeping gas comes out instead.
- Gadget's Roma:
- While being chased by a lion in the Roman Colosseum, Gadget used his squirt gun to confuse the mighty beast.
- Gadget Meets the Clan:
- Gadget blows his whistle finger after items are stolen from the Policeman's convention where he was being honored.
- Gadget and Old Lace:
- The Inspector used his screwdriver finger to open a package which had just arrived from World Inspectors Supply.
- Gadget used his finger pen to autograph a great many pictures for Sadie and Viola.
Gadget Goofs[]
- In Monster Lake, Gadget refers to his Gadget Screwdriver as a Gadget Wrench.
- In both Down on the Farm and The Amazon, Gadget answers the Gadget Phone on his left hand instead of his right.
- In The Coo Coo Clock Caper, the Gadget pen located in Gadget's right index finger instead of his middle finger.
- In The Great Divide and Do Unto Udders, Gadget used his laser finger with his right hand instead of his left.
- In Doubled Agent and M.A.D. Academy, Gadget's screwdriver finger is located in his left index instead of his left ringfinger.
- In Do Unto Udders, Gadget used his finger pen with his left hand instead of his right.
- In Follow That Jet, Gadget's Laser finger is shown to be positioned in his right index finger instead of his left. Later, he also fires his water pistol with the same finger, which is the accurate digit.
- In Smeldorado, Gadget uses his skeleton key finger (left pink), but calls it his Gadget Screwdriver.
- In Snakin' All Over, Gadget's finger pen is located in his right index finger instead of the middle finger.
