The Gadget Mallet is a wooden hammer held in a robotic hand that also comes out of Gadget's hat. It usually winds up bopping someone it should not—sometimes even the Inspector himself. At one point, it helped to tell Gadget apart from an impostor.

- The Gadget Mallet was one of several items which deployed from Gadget's hat while he was falling from a great height and calling upon the Gadget Brella.

- While trying to prove himself to be the actual Gadget and not Presto Change-O, Gadget's mallet popped out of his hat and hit Chief Quimby on the head. This made the Chief realize which one of the two Gadgets was the real one.

- After ending up in the water with a M.A.D. Agent posing as Mr. Greenfinger, Gadget gave the order to extend one of his Gadget Arms, but instead his Mallet popped out of his hat and hit the fake Mr. Greenfinger on the head, knocking him out.

- The Gadget Mallet responded to the wrong command when Inspector Gadget called out for his Gadget Machete.
- The Coo Coo Clock Caper:
- When the clock struck five, several of Inspector Gadget's gadgets malfunctions. His coat inflated abd one of his Gadget hands began to swing the Gadget Mallet. Later, the Mallet was one of several Gadgets to malfunction when the Inspector caught a cold and sneezed at home.
- The Bermuda Triangle:
- When a shark tried to grab Gadget from behind, the Mallet appeared to work indipendently and emerged, hit the shark on the head and retracted again before Gadget even noticed.
- The Great Divide (malfunction):
- Inspector Gadget gave the command for his Gadget 'Copter, but the Mallet appeared instead.
- Eye of the Dragon (malfunction):
- While investigating an art theft in London, Inspector Gadget requested his Gadget Magnifying Glass, but the mallet was activated instead and hit a bobby on the head.
- While meeting a contact in Hong Kong, Gadget got a valuable vase stuck on his head. Before the contact could removie it, the Gadget Mallet reached out from under the vase and struck it, breaking it into a tiny pieces.

- The Mallet activated itself by mistake when Gadget called out for his Flashlight. Later it malfunctioned again when Gadget called for his Gadget Skates and managed to knock out a mechanical crab in the process.
- No Flies on Us (malfunction):
- Gadget Mallet is activated by mistake when Gadget sneezes inside an elevator. It hits a man on the head, knocking him out.
- Prince of the Gypsies:
- Gadget Mallet was deployed unintentionally, together with two other Gadget Hands holding a flashlight and a pair of scissors, when Volla introduced Gadget to his daughter, Gadget's wife to be.
- Do Unto Udders (malfunction):
- Gadget gives the command for Gadget Arms in order to take the lid of several garbage cans to see which one Quimby is hiding in. But the Mallet deployes instead and starts banging on the cans instead.
- A Bad Altitude (malfunction):
- Gadget called for his Gadget Pen more while being doused with sleeping gas in the backseat of a M.A.D. Taxi cab. But lucky for him, his Gadget Mallet was activated and broke the window between himself and the driver.
- Funny Money (malfunction):
- Unaware he was part of a prison break, Gadget called for his Gadget Key, but the Mallet deployed instead, hitting inmate Squint on the head and knocking off his glasses.
- Smeldorado:
- The Gadget Mallet saved Inspector Gadget's life when he slipped and fell off a railing in Fort Bricks. The mallet caught on part of the railing, allowing Gadget to bounce back up, using his arms and legs. Back on the railing, the mallet retracted as if nothing had happened.
- Unhenged:
- Stuck in the mud, Gadget called for his Gadget 'Copter, but his Mallet deployed instead, hitting a Bobby (Brain in disguise) on the head, knocking his helmet over his body, then hitting him from the side to sweep him out of the way.
- The next morning, Gadget called for his Go-Go Gadget Toothbrush, but one of the hands from his hat applied toothpaste to the side of his Mallet (held by a different extending hand) instead.
- Snakin' All Over:
- After clearing the driveway of snow, Gadget used his Mallet to hit the snow off his shoes as he went back inside.
- At the 1st Penny Mansion, Gadget was hit in the face with a plank, causing his Gadget Mallet to deploy, and hit Dr. Venom on the head.
- He employed the mallet to fix a hissing radiator, unaware that the sound was coming from a snake. He concluded that it sounded better after the mallet hit the snake on the head without him noticing it.
- In Seine:
- When Gadget's gadgets start to short-circuit thanks to LaPoof's robot, the mallet activates itself and hits the Inspector on the head, knocking him out as the mallet retracts itself once more.
- Tree Guesses:
- Gadget called upon his screwdriver while checking a conveyor belt at the sawmill, but his Gadget Mallet was activated instead. The wooden mallet was quickly cut in half by the circular saw.
- So It is Written (malfunction):
- Gadget ordered his Gadget Shovel to help out with Penny's sandcastle, but the mallet deployed and hit the castle, causing sand to fly into Gadget's eye.
- School for Pickpockets:
- While being pickpocket, Gadget got ticklish and asked for his Gadget Hanky. But his Mallet deployed instead, and hit the pickpocket on the head.
- Later, Gadget called upon his Gadget Cuffs, but the Mallet was activated again. This time it struck the top off of a scepter being held by the King of the Carnaval.
- Quiz Master:
- When calling upon his Gadget Binoculars, the Mallet deployed instead and hit M.A.D. Agent Fred, who was about to clobber the Inspector from behind, on the head.
Season 2 (1983 series)[]
- Magic Gadget:
- The Mallet deployed by mistake, together with the Gadget 'Copter, Gadget Brella and another Gadget Hand holding a mug. Eventually the door slid open, and Gadget fell out of the deadly trap.
- The Great Wambini's Seance (identified as Gadget Hammer):
- Stuck in a compartment with deadly spikes descending from above, Gadget used his mallet to bang on the door.
- The Incredible Shrinking Gadget:
- Having been shrunk to doll size by Doomkauf's ray gun, Gadget's mallet emerged from his hat together with other Gadget hands waving flowers and his Gadget Magnifying Glass to show his displeasure about being picked up by Corporal Capeman.
- Focus on Gadget (malfunction):
- Gadget's mallet deployed by accident when he called for Gadget Flowers to greet one of the Cleaning droids aboard the Space Station.
- N.S.F. Gadget:
- Gadget swung his Gadget Mallet to break the glass between himself and Reginald, who was driving a taxicab and had released crazy gas into the passenger compartment.
- Tyrannosaurus Gadget:
- Almost drowning in a tar pit, the Mallet was one of five gadgets to emerge from the Inspector's hat simultaneously, together with a white flag, a pair of scissors, the Gadget Brella and a single flower.
- Gadget's Clean Sweep:
- In Nineteenth Century London, Gadget employed his Lasso to save Percy from drowning. However, when he called for a "Gadget Towel", his mallet employed by mistake and hit both Percy and his accomplice on their heads. Gadget blamed the malfunction on the thick London fog.

- In The Super Mario Bros. Super Show live-acttion sketches, the Gadget Mallet comes out of Gadget's right hand instead of his hat.
