LaPoof is a character in Inspector Gadget.
Physical Description[]
LaPoof is a short and thin French man with a bald head, a thing point nose, receding black hairline, a thin moustache and pointy jawbone. He wears a cream-colored suit with a blue and white polka-dotted neckerchief and white dress shoes. He carries a cigarette holder with him.
Personality[]
LaPoof is a devious and intelligent man who speaks in a stereotypical French accent.
Routine[]
LaPoof is M.A.D's top French agent and clothing designer who ran a successful clothes store in Paris, France that catered to the very rich. After gaining the trust of female millionaires, LaPoof would rob them of their jewels, with the help from his little brother and his look-a-like robot. The robot was programmed to infiltrate the millionaire's homes and disable security systems, and then steal from them. Before the robbery, he would send a note to his impending victims telling them that they were to be robbed. This note even listed the date it on which the robbery would take place, but still the police did not manage to catch LaPoof or his accomplices in the act.
LaPoof set his eyes on the jewels of his customer Madame Bovine, when he was told by Dr. Claw that Inspector Gadget was coming to Paris. He was told to get rid of the Inspector. Shortly after Gadget, his niece and their dog arrived, LaPoof drove up to them in his limousine and handed them three complimentary tickets for a boat tour on the Seine. Both LaPoof's brother and the Great LaPoof (as he referred to himself) attempted to get rid of Gadget, but only succeeded in puncturing the Gadget Coat. He then changed tactics and invited Gadget to visit his shop to get his torn coat replaced. After the Little Brother roughly helped Gadget to put on a new coat, LaPoof insisted that the Inspector also reminded needed a new belt, which had explosives hidden in them. The two brothers were looking forward to Gadget's demise, but his dog Brain pushed him into a fountain, defusing the bomb.
That night, LaPoof instructed his robot to rob another customer of his, Madame Deneuve. The two brothers kept tabs on the robot's progress by watching a video feed from the Robot's eye sensors. When Dr. Claw reminded him to make sure to get rid of Gadget, LaPoof sent his little brother inside, but he was foiled by Brain, disguised as a potted plant. The brother was called back after the robot returned to his maker's van with all the loot. Together they drove to the sewers, where a submarine was waiting to take them out of France. However, they were unaware that [Gadget's niece Penny was hanging on to the back of the van.
Using the sub's periscope, LaPoof noticed the little girl snooping around on top of the submarine, and told his brother, to whom he referred as 'mon petit', to get her. The Brother grabbed the girl and locked her up. They then set off to get out of Paris via the Seine. LaPoof informed Dr. Claw that they were on their way, but Penny used her computer book to take control of the sub and make it rise to the surface where the LaPoofs were arrested by the Frence Gendarmes and the stolen items recovered.
Just as LaPoof was being arrested, Gadget asked him when his boutique would be open again, to which LaPoof replied "in 20 or 30 years".
