Inspector Gadget Wiki

The Linguinis are five imps owned and trained by Professor Doomkauf. They speak only one word at a time, but manage to form complete sentences as long as they are together. They are also masters of disguise.

Routine[]

Doomkauf sent the five Linguinis to eliminate Gadget by order of Dr. Claw. When they arrived at the Gadget House, they hid in the tall grass and attacked a nanny pushing a baby carriage. They left the nanny tied up in the carriage next to the baby, put on her outfit and, standing on top of each other, walked up to Gadget's door. Gadget, who had recently gotten his finger caught between the Gadgetmobile's door, assumed that Brain had called him a nurse, and let them in, despite Brain's objections. When Gadget turned his back, the five Linguinis revealed themselves and four of them threw objects at the Inspector, including a hammer, a rolling pin, a fly swatter and a ball on a string game. They failed to hit him because Brain quickly pushed Gadget out the door and shut it behind him. The Linguinis then left their disguise behind and hit in the house.

They managed to flatten themselves and hide in a picture frame, with all five of them posing as abstract art. When Gadget got near, they jumped out and began spitting pellets at him, but Brain pushed the Inspector into the empty firespace and captured the Linguinis by rolling them into a rug. They escaped and chased Brain into the kitchen. Brain ran outside using the door, and the Linguinis fell through a trap door in the floor and into the washing machine below. Two mechanical hands picked them up and deposited them in the dryer, then hung them on a clothesline. Having had enough, the Linguinis decided to leave.

However, Doomkauf himself returned them to the Gadget House, dressed as a lady and carrying a basked with all five Linguinis disguised as babies. Doomkauf asked Gadget to babysit them while he went to the store, and left before Gadget could say no. One of the Linguinis bit Gadget on his sore finger when he tried to comfort them. After Gadget promised to feed them, the Linguinis went to the kitchen and raided the Gadget Fridge themselves. When Brain caught up with them, they started to throw food at him, leading Brain to retreat into the Gadget Trash Compactor and use Penny's remote control to activate the Gadget Dishwasher. Two mechanical arms grabbed the Linguinis, deposited them in the wash basin and began to scrub them clean. But Inspector Gadget turned it off when he found them there.

The Linguinis left five dolls of babies on a bed as a decoy while they climbed on each others shoulders and put on the nurse's outfit again. Gadget was fooled by the fake babies, took them to the bathroom and asked the nurse for a bar of soap. The Linguini on the bottom passed a piece of soap filled with explosives up to the other Linguinis as they chuckled wickedly. In the Gadget Shower, Gadget asked for the soap, but Brain, dressed as a large rubber duck, caught it first. He passed it back to the Linguinis, opened the bathroom window and pushed them out onto the lawn below, where they landed just as the soap exploded.

Dr. Claw gave Professor Doomkauf one last chance to finish off Gadget. This time he disguised each Linguini as Brain. Back at the house, they began tearing up the garden until Gadget came out. Surprised to see five versions of Brain, Gadget ordered his dog to go into his doghouse and merge back into one. Gadget then went back into his house alone. This annoyed the Linguinis so much that they threw off their disguises and ran to the house. But Brain used the remote control to lift the entire house into the air on a series of extending gadget legs. The Linguinis fell into the hole under the house, and Brain dropped the building back into place, on top of them.

The Linguinis ended up back inside the house, and Brain used the ejector seat hidden in the Gadget Couch to catapult Gadget out through the roof, as per Penny's instructions. The Linguinis moved in on Brain, but Penny told him to lure them into the bedroom. He trapped them in a rug again and was joined by Penny, who activated several remote control toys as well as an inflatable version of her Uncle Gadget to confuse them. The Linguinis ended up hanging from a gargoyle on the side of the roof, then fell into the yard. They fled together with Professor Doomkauf, who had come to fetch them in his female disguise.
