Inspector Gadget Wiki

The M.A.D. Director is one of Claw's field agents in Inspector Gadget.

Routine[]

He was to film the military instillation and kill Gadget under Claw's orders.

Personality[]

The M.A.D. Director is a bad-tempered and bossy man. He is also pure evil, as demonstrated when he attempted to burn Penny alive with the mechanical dragon. He is prone to anger, especially during his first attempt to kill Gadget during their shooting of the medieval scene with the Black Knight. The director speaks in a German accent.

History[]

The M.A.D. Director was supposedly shooting a new movie starring Lana Lamour near Metro City. The actual objective of this ruse was to spy on a nearby Top-Secret Military Installation. Inspector Gadget was tasked to investigate the matter and took a job as an extra. Lana Lamour told the Director she would take care of Gadget herself. The Director preferred to take care of Gadget as soon as possible, but found himself having to pretend to film several scenes in which Gadget appeared as a knight in armor. The cameraman, meanwhile, was actually focussing his lens on the missile base instead of Gadget.

In the first scene, Gadget would face a giant man playing "The Black Knight" in a joust. While the Black Knight rode a mighty steed, Gadget was given a downtrodden donkey to ride and a plunger to defend himself with. He still managed to evade the Knight with his Gadget Legs, and defeated him in hand-to-hand battle when one of his gauntlets slipped off his hand and hit the Knight in the head.

Earlier, the Director had noticed a little girl snooping around and grabbed her. For Gadget's third scene, the girl was tied to a pole and attacked by a mechanical dragon. When Gadget complained that this wasn't the star of the film, Lana Lamour, the director explained that the girl was her stunt double. To the Director's chagrin, Gadget somehow disabled the dragon with his water gun finger, and the girl managed to escape with the help of a dog in the commotion.

Later that night, M.A.D. Agents Fred and Bruce, who posed as members of the crew during the filming, showed the director the footage that had been filmed earlier that day. The Director became enraged when he saw that Gadget had somehow managed to get himself in front of the camera in nearly every shot. Meanwhile, Lana attempted to take care of Gadget in her trailer but failed at every turn. The Director then received instructions from Dr. Claw himself concerning Gadget's final scene, and went to Lana's trailer, where he ordered Gadget to get back into his knight's costume.

In a scene he described as 'the key to the movie', Gadget was supposed to jump from one parapet to another. After the Inspector was hoisted into position, the parapets were moved even further apart, and a bed of spikes was revealed underneath the second one. Using his inflatable Gadget Coat, Gadget bounced off the spikes and landed on top of the Director, Lana, Fred and Bruce, knocking all of them out. Moments later, Chief Quimby and his men arrived on the scene and arrested all of the M.A.D. Agents, including the director.
