The M.A.D. Prophet is a character in Inspector Gadget. He is Claw's former top agent on Volcano Island. He used predictions (albeit fake) to drive people away from the island, so Dr.Claw could use it as a missile base.
Personality[]
Loyal to Dr. Claw. He used a fake persona of a crazy prophet to convince people that the island was unsafe.
Appearance[]
The prophet was an older man wearing a black robe, had grey hair, beard and eyebrows, has lost some of his teeth and often used a prophet's stick. His eyes had the strange ability to flash red and yellow during predictions.
History[]
The M.A.D. Prophet attempted to scare tourists away from Volcano Island so that [[Dr. Claw] (DiC)|Dr. Claw] could use it as a missile base. His claims of killer sharks roaming the ocean around the island were backed up by a mechanical shark controlled by Claw himself. Next, the Prophet predicted a terrible rainstorm was coming to the island. This prediction came true when Gadget carelessly threw Chief Quimby's self-destructing message into the hotel swimming pool, causing all the water to explode into the air.
When the Prophet warned about the volcanoes and told the tourists to leave the island, some of them were skeptical, as the island volcanoes had been inactive for years. But others noted that the Prophet had been right about the sharks earlier. He reported to Claw that the tourists were starting to worry on his coconut communication device. Another M.A.D. Agent threw an explosive pinapple into the volcano to make it appear to erupt. This prompted the Prophet to claim the destruction of the island had begun and tell everyone to run for their lives.
Inspector Gadget was impressed by the Prophet's skills, and his niece Penny suggested he'd follow him. Together with their dog, Brain, they tracked to Prophet to his humble home, where he told them to leave immediately. Surprised to be called by his name, Gadget was reasured when the Prophet told him he knew everything. Inside his house, the Prophet predicted that Gadget was about to have a nasty accident, and pushed a button to make the Inspector fall down a trap door. Gadget used several Gadgets to escape the trap, and deflected second button operated trap, a weight dropping from the ceiling, with his Gadget Spring. The weight was catapulted back into the air and landed on top of the Prophets head. He was unable to evade it because Gadget had grabbed onto his hands. Gadget thanked the Prophet for his help and asked if they would see each other at the farewell luau for the islanders that was to be held that night. The Prophet reported back to Claw wearing an icepack on his head to soothe his headache, and indicated that Gadget was just too smart for him. Claw ordered him to finish him off at the luau by handing him an explosive pinapple.
The Prophet handed Gadget one of the pinapple's filled with explosives, and when he heard it go off, reported back to Dr. Claw that he had just heard the end of Gadget. Claw then told him to take the rest of the pinapples to the volcano and wait for further instructions. The Prophet drove a truck filled with pinapples to it's destination, unaware that Penny had jumped in the back to examine the pinapples. When she tried to escape after the truck stopped, Penny bumped into M.A.D. Agent Lenny, who captured her. The Prophet described Lenny as "the guard of the volcano", despite the fact that Lenny was dressed as a tourist, and together they took the young girl inside the volcano and tied her to a rope, hanging from a rock.
Dr. Claw gave the Prophet fifteen minutes to load the volcano with pinapple bombs, then Claw would press the plunger himself to make the volcano errupt. At the base of the volcano, the Prophet was surprised when Inspector Gadget bumped into him, alive and well, and asked what he was doing. The Prophet told him he was about to make a sacrifice of pinapples to the Guard of the Volcano. Gadget offered to help him and together they took turns running up and down the volcano to drop the pinapples in. Gadget got the ideau to push the entire truck up the side of the volcano and drop it's entire contents into it. When the Prophet asked him to do him one more favor, Gadget replied "Anything for you, Mr. Prophet. " The Prophet handed Gadget a hastilly written note and told him to perfor this secret incantation to save the island. As Gadget ran back up the volcano, the Prophet drove away in his truck, using one final pinapple bomb to destroy the hangbridge after crossing it.
Gadget survived the exploding volcano, and located the Prophet, who seemed to be having trouble with his truck. The Prophet was fixing a tire when Gadget flew towards him using his Gadget 'Copter. He made a run for it, with Gadget following him on his Gadget Skates to tell him his predictions had come true three times according to his count. The Prophet inadvertedly led the Inspector right to another, even bigger volcano on the island, where Lenny had just finished placing pinapple bombs. Lenny and the Prophet bumped into each other, and Lenny convinced the Prophet to run the other way. Both collided with Gadget, still skating, and ended up ballancing on his outstretched arms. Gadget tripped, causing the two M.A.D. Agents to fly through the air and end up caught in a series of cables right next to the giant bomb. Gadget tried to free the two men from the cables and without realizing it, pulled a wire out of the wall which disabled the bomb. Chief Quimby arrived on the scene and had both the Prophet and Lenny arrested.

- The Prophet's eyes have a hypnotising effect whenever he makes his claims.
- The Prophet carried a walkie talkie disguised as a coconut to keep in contact with Dr. Claw.
