Mr. Greenfinger is a minor character in Inspector Gadget. He is a brilliant scientist who works at his Greenfinger Institute, located just outside Metro CIty.

History[]
At the Institute named after him, Greenfinger perfected a formula to grow giant vegetables that could be used to feed entire world. Inspector Gadget was tasked to protect Mr. Greenfinger from Metro City, which was certain to try to get their hands on the formula and use it for less noble means. Unfortunately, Gadget arrived too late, Greenfinger had already been captured and tied up in the basement of his own institute. Greenfinger was replaced by an imposter, who had a M.A.D. Scientist administer the formula to a common weed, which grew to gigantic size in no time. Dr. Claw planned to unleash these giant weeds and have them destroy crops all over the world. Then everybody would come begging for Claw's gigantic vegetables, which he would sell at gigantic prices.
Gadget's niece, Penny was also snooping around the facilities, but was captured by M.A.D. Agent Bruce, who took her to meet the real Greenfinger. Soon, the girl was tied up and gagged in the cellar next to Mr. Greenfinger. Penny's dog Brain, who was disguised as a butler, found them there and untied her. Penny started to untie Mr. Greenfinger, but stopped when Bruce, together with fellow M.A.D. Agent Dick, entered the room to fetch all the barrels of Greenfingers formula which had been stored there. Penny managed to make her rope and gag look convincing enough for the two agents not to notice that she was no longer actually tied up.
After the Agents had left, Penny told Mr. Greenfinger to call the police while she contacted Brain on her watch. She then used her computer book to take control of the M.A.D. Blimp on which all the barrels containing the formula had been loaded and made sure it did not get away. Soon Chief Quimby and his men arrived and arrested all the M.A.D. Agents, including the imposter who had posed as Greenfinger. Then, to the real Greenfinger's dismay, all of the giant plants and vegetables on the grounds began to shrivel up and wither away. Mr. Greenfinger was disappointed that his formula had failed, but Quimby quipped that perhaps the world just wasn't ready yet for a two hundred pound potato. When Inspector Gadget arrived on the scene, Mr. Greenfinger told him he had heard of him before, and Gadget assumed that Greenfinger was the institute's gardnerer. Noticing the lawn was no free of overgrown greens, Gadget complimented him, saying the lawn now looked a hundred per cent better, almost as good as Gadget's own.
