Inspector Gadget Wiki

Mr. Greenfinger (imposter) is a character in Inspector Gadget. He took the place of the real Mr. Greenfinger at the Greenfinger Institute.

Routine[]

He was sent by Dr. Claw to steal the plant growth formula and do away with Gadget.

Personality[]

Fake Greenfinger was a brilliant man with a dark persona.

History[]

The man who would take the place of Mr. Greenfinger reported directly to Dr. Claw after successfully capturing Greenfinger and tying him up in the basement of his own institute. Greenfinger had perfected a formula to grow giant vegetables that could be used to feed entire world. The M.A.D. agent in command had a M.A.D. Scientist administer the formula to a common weed, which grew to gigantic size in no time. Claw planned to unleash these giant weeds and have them destroy crops all over the world. Then everybody would come begging for Claw's gigantic vegetables, which he would sell at gigantic prices.

Inspector Gadget was tasked to protect Mr. Greenfinger from M.A.D., and the agent in charge of the operation posed as Greenfinger after being ordered by Dr. Claw to dispose of Gadget. He suggested that some of Dr. Claw's new giant weeds could finish the Inspector off. He greeted Gadget, who at first assumed he was the gardener. The imposter then claimed to be Mr. Greenfinger himself and offered to show Gadget the food project around the back of the building. The imposter presented Gadget with the grounds filled with giant vegetables and suggested the Inspector took a look around. He then went inside to where Dr. Claw was seated and together they watched a monitor on which Gadget was grabbed by giant weeds. Gadget was saved by his dog, Brain, who pulled the cord to inflate his master's Gadget Coat, allowing him to break free from the weeds.

The imposter was surprised to see Gadget still alive, but when the Inspector asked to take a look at the institute's security system, the fake Greenfinger took him to a speedboat he could use to check the grounds. He declined to join the inspector, saying he had a little fobia about water. Unfortunately, his foot was caught in a rope attached to the boat, and the imposter was dragged along for the ride without Gadget being aware. This became especially dangerous for the imposter when another speedboat piloted by two M.A.D. Agents, Abdul and Pops, attacked Gadget's boat. After enduring a very bumpy ride, the imposter ended up in the water next to Gadget, who assumed the thoughtful Greenfinger had come to his rescue. While trying to activate his Gadget Arm, Gadget knocked out the imposter with his Gadget Mallet by mistake. He then used his Gadget Skates to return to the house, carrying the still unconcious imposter on his back.

The imposter was just beginning to regain consiousness when Gadget arrived at the main building of the institute, but he stumbled, entered the house by crashing through a large window and the imposer ended up inside a grand piano. Gadget opened the lid to commend "Mr. Greenfinger" on his excellent security system" and then requested some lunch. Having gotten his head bandaged after being tossed around during the mishap with the speedboat, the imposter went to the kitchen and prepared a nice salad for the Inspector, and added some drops of poison to it. Gadget, who happened to be extra hungry, began wolving the salad down, but once again Brain saved his life by switching the poisoned bowl for a non-lethal helping.

At the same time, the imposter was reporting to Dr. Claw that he was about to use the growth formula on a venus flytrap. He placed the plant in a bedroom prepared for Gadget, who had become very sleepy, either from eating too much of from having ingested a small amount of poison during when he began to eat. The imposter helped Gadget up the stairs and into the room where he could rest, where the giant flytrap was waiting for him. Gadget managed to elude being plantfood when he fell out of the window, and woke up quite refreshed.

The imposter was about to leave with all of Greenfinger's formula collected in barrels on a freshly arrived M.A.D. blimp. Once again he was shocked when Gadget appeared on the scene, but the Inspector offered his help in loading the remaining barrels onto the airship. Once they lifted off, Gadget noticed that one barrel had been left behind and grabbed onto a rope handing from the blimp. Meanwhile, his niece Penny took control of the blimps guiding system with her computer book, and turned the blimp around so that it flew back to the institute. The fake Greenfinger assumed this must have been Gadget's doing. Soon both Gadget and Brain (disguised as a waiter) were dangling from the airship and the blimp was losing height. Greenfinger and the M.A.D. pilot jumped out, landing in the water surrounding the institute, and together with the other M.A.D. Agents, the fake Greenfinger was soon arrested by the police under the command of Chief Quimby.
