"Old Man of the Mountain" is the 46th episode of the first season of Inspector Gadget. It is the 57th episode in production order.

Synopsis

Gadget visits the Balkans to stop a war between a tribe of super-strong men (the Dooplas) and a tribe of super-strong women (the Hooplas) while Dr. Claw tries to steal the potion that gives them their uncanny strength--yogurt made from a particular goat's milk.

The episode ends with Gadget and Penny talking about helping and appreciating senior citizens.

Trivia

• It is possible that the title of this episode was supposed to be "The Great Divide", which better fits the description, but then something happened that caused DiC to mix up this particular title with "Old Man of the Mountain".
• Brutus, the lion from Gadget at the Circus, can be spotted during the opening scene at the zoo. He is reading a book inside his cage. It is possible he was moved from the circus to be habilitated by the zookeepers.
• "MAD's Theme" by Shuki Levy and Haim Saban can be heard very briefly when Congo the gorilla makes a move against Inpector Gadget at the zoo.
• The scene where a rock being catapulted at Penny shatters harmlessly on contact after she tries a bit of the yogurt is a reference to pre-production plans for her to be powered with "super strength".
• The magic goat's milk which gives the two village tribes super strength appears to be inspired by the magic strength potion used by the Gaul villagers in the "Asterix" comic books by Goscinny and Uderzo.
• Near the end, M.A.D. Cat can be briefly seen inside the M.A.D. Mobile twice, smiling to the camera while wearing a trench coat and hat modeled after Inspector Gadget's.
