Prince Acar was next in line to become ruler of the wealthy middle Eastern country of Yetzanistan. The country had a number of rules concerning the coronation of their ruler. Whomever held the Sacred Scimitar of Avikenesh at the appointed time, would become king. This meant that if anyone else who got their hands on the scimitar at the right time, they could claim the throne instead of Acar. Therefore, the Sacred Scimitar was kept in a vault protected by a large stainless steel door.
Fast Abdul visited the Prince in his royal palace unannounced, to present a gift for his coronation. It was a cart bearing a model of the desert being doused by rain. The Prince was quite impressed, for rain was the one thing his country lacked. Abdul proposed to store his gift in the royal vault, which the Prince thought to be very wise. His royal highness and Abdul entered the vault, where Abdul inquired about the Sacred Scimitar, the object needed in Acar's coronation. Acar explained that if someone stole it, and was in possession of it at the time of coronation, that person would become King in his stead. After leaving the vault, it was sealed with its solid steel door. However, Abdul's trained monkey had been hiding in the cart on which his gift was placed. The monkey got out of the cart, stole the Scimitar and took it back into the cart with it.
Abdul had somehow managed to retrieve his cart from the vault. Prince Acar was informed of this by a young American girl, Penny, who interrupted him as he was enjoying his favorite television program. After checking the vault, Penny promised to track down the scimitar and Acar joined her in the marketplace. Together they surmised that Fast Abdul had been behind the theft. Penny's dog Brain managed to retrieve the Scimitar, but lost again to Fast Abdul's monkey. Penny and Acar saw it all, but were unable to stop the monkey and Fast Abdul of leaving with the treasure.
Acar could do nothing but go through with the coronation ceremony. As the audience began to gather, Penny noticed Abdul moving through, but without the scimitar on him. Abdul's monkey still had it, and was perched on top of the platform the Prince was sitting in. They waited for the Prince to confirm that the scimitar had been stolen. Then Abdul whistled for his monkey to climb down and hand the sacred scimitar to him. Abdul held the golden weapon aloft to claim himself king, but Penny ran onto the stage, stomped Abdul's foot and caught the scimitar when it flew out of his hand. She threw it to Brain, but her Uncle Gadget, who still thought all that surrounded him was just a mirage, danced around and knocked the weapon out of Brain's paw, back into Abdul's hand. Abdul chuckled wickedly and thanked Gadget, but Penny grabbed his legs, causing him to topple over. This time the monkey caught the scimitar, Gadget extended his Gadget Arm to take it from the animal, M.A.D. Agents Dick and Lenny rushed at the Inspector from both sides, all three collided, the scimitar once more flew into the air and the Prince caught it, leading his people to proclaim him their King.
King Acar thanked Inspector Gadget personally and allowed him a place to rest in his palace. Prince Acar made certain to hide the fact that Penny and Brain were also there from the Inspector. But when the Prince offered the Inspector a cool glass of lemonade, Gadget once again assumed it was only a mirage, and poured the drink over his face instead.
