History[]

When the Firstpenny Coin Collection went up for auction, Professor Venom infiltrated the Firstpenny mansion and kidnapped the auctioneer so that he could take his place. He reported to Dr. Claw that everything was going according to plan. First his snakes would replace all of the coins with fakes, then he would auction them off, leaving M.A.D. in posession of the real coins as well as the money. Claw informed him that he would pick up the coins personaly when the time came.

The Firstpenny Estate was a very old house that was practically falling apart. When Inspector Gadget rang the doorbell, it broke, leading him to take a step backwards. This caused an old plank to swing up and hit him in the head, activating the Gadget Mallet from his hat, which hit Professor Venom on the head as he opened the door. Gadget let himself in and asked Venom who the suspicious looking characters in the lounge were. Venom explained that these were the big bidders, gathered for the auction to be held the next day. As he introduced himself, Venom alerted a thin black snack he had draped around his neck to pose as a necktie. The snake made a move to bite Gadget on the neck, but one of the bidders (actually Brain in disguise) ran up to them and trapped the snake by between two halves of a book he had been pretending to read. Venom held his ground, despite Brain running out the room and up the stairs, stretching the snake all the way. Gadget began to pursue the bidder, whom he was certain to be a M.A.D. Agent, and when Brain finally let go of the snake, it hit Venom in the face, together with the book in which it had been trapped.

Gadget appologized to Venom for letting the "M.A.D. Agent" get away. Venom told him to get settled in his bedroom first, and closed the door with an evil grin on his face. Gadget did not realize that Venom had let loose a giant pink rattlesnake in the room. But Gadget managed to evade the snake. Then Brain, posing as a waiter, trapped the snake under a platecover, but it managed to escape in the bathroom and disappeared down the drain. Dr. Claw contacted Venom and scolded him for his failure. Venom told him he had another plan which wouldn't miss.

Venom located Gadget outside the room where the coin collection was being held and told him there were strange noises coming from Gadget's own room. This time a cobra hid in his grandfather clock and swiftly hypnotized the Inspector. Then another snake, this time a boa constrictor, grabbed Gadget. He survived thanaks to the combined efforts of Brain and Penny, whom Gadget did not realize to have joined them in the house. After regaining his senses. Gadget returned to the coin room and threatened to put every one present, including Professor Venom and the old guard, under arrest. Venom told the Inspector there had been a mistake, as all the coins were accounted for. Gadget left to investigate a hole in the room's ceiling. Venom tried to persuade the two appraisers, Flinkelfloppen & Flinkelfloppen, to skip the other two cases, as they had already appraised the first case. But the two Flinkelfloppen did not fall for his ruse.

Venom reported to Claw that he had already switched the first coin case. However, Claw was annoyed that Gadget was still on the case and yelled at Venom to get Gadget. With the rattle snake and the boa constructor in bandages, Venom decided to let his pet cobra do the job this time. The cobra attempted to hypnotise Venom himself, but Venom told it to target Gadget instead of him. An army of tiny white snakes snuck into the coin room via a ventilation shaft to steal and replace each of the coins one by one. They then dutifully returned to their master, Professor Venom, and deposited the loot in a bag on his table. Venom was very pleased with himself and his trained pets. By this time, the cobra had returned to Venom's room as well, after failing to get Gadget.

Venom noticed a little blonde girl snooping around. He opened the door unexpectedly, causing her to fall into the room and damage her computer book. The girl ran from the room, but Venom ordered his cobra, boa constrictor and rattlesnake to go after her. Meanwhile, Gadget was chasing Brain, disguised once again as a bidder, and the Old Guard who was assigned to protect the coins was chasing Gadget through the mansion's hallway. When Venom saw them coming towards him, his bad conscience got the best of him and he began to run as well. He followed Brain into a room, only to find himself tumbling down some stairs into the basement. While Gadget and the Old Guard chased Brain outside, Venom climbed up to the second story, and exited the house via the fire escape carrying a sack of coins. But, like everything else in the Firstpenny Estate, the fire escape fell apart, leading Venom to fall right through it and tumble down the remaining stairs. He landed in front of Gadget and the Old Guard, who had been at odds with each other up to that moment and shared the credit for capturing Venom when Chief Quimby arrived.
