Rattlesnake Bart is a character in Inspector Gadget. He was hired by Claw to rob the S-A Bank in Wild West Tourist Town.
History[]
Rattlesnake Bart entered Dr. Claw's private quarters inside his castle, riding a horse and shooting laser bolts from his pistols. Before he spoke, he gave Claw a demonstration of his shooting skills by throwing a coin up in the air and firing another laser shot, which ricocheted across the walls several times and grazed M.A.D. Cat's head before hitting the coin, dead center. Bart was ordered to rob the S-A Bank in the Wild West Tourist Town so Claw could use the money to buy the entire town.
Bart robbed the bank, and found himself in pursuit of the Sheriff and Mayor of the Tourist Town. Inspector Gadget was nearing the town from the other direction, and, thinking he saw a welcoming committee coming his way, released fireworks from the back of his Gadgetmobile. This made it easier for Bart to escape, jumping over the Gadgetmobile with his horse. When Gadget learned the bank had been robbed, he vowed to have the outlaw behind bars by sundown. Dr. Claw contacted Bart via a communicator incorporated in his saddle, and told him to return to town and eliminate Gadget. Bart replied it would be his pleasure.
Back in town, Bart first set out to hide the money he stole. He entered the Hotel/Saloon and scared off the owner, who promptly decided to take a long vacation. Bart had just enough time to hide the loot behind a mounted buffalo head mounted on the wall behind the bar before Gadget arrived and ordered a room.
Later that day, after the saloon had opened for customers, Gadget came down from his room wearing cowboy boots and a large hat (covering his usual hat). Bart attempted to hit Gadget over the head with a bottle, but it was snatched out of his hand by a Mexican (actually Brain in disguise) using a whip. When Gadget ordered a milk on the rocks, Bart gave him a glass filled with nitroglycerine instead. He slid it toward Gadget, who failed to grab it, and it exploded as it slipped off the bar counter, destroying the piano and tearing up the piano player's clothes in the process. Next, Bart tried to hit Gadget over the head with a barrel. When Brain tried to interfere again with his whip, Bart pulled the dog towards him, stuck him in the barrel and rolled it out of the saloon. When Inspector Gadget announced himself to the saloon customers, Bart lit a match to burn through a rope connected to a chandelier hanging above Gadget's head. The Mexican ran back in, pushed Gadget out of the way and got hit by the chandelier. The Inspector then asked Bart where he could find a good horse. Bart told him he would pick one out for him, himself.
First, Bart positioned Gadget on a rocket made up to look like a wooden practice horse and lid the fuse. Gadget blasted through the barn wall, and Bart was about to report that he had finished the job to Dr. Claw, when Gadget appeared behind him, safe and sound. When Gadget asked to try a real horse, Bart brought him a large bull instead. The Inspector used his Gadget Lasso to tire the bull and make him dizzy, and when the bull accidentally sat down on a cactus (Brain in another disguise), the animal gave up and made for the hills.
Back in town, Bart was dismayed to find the stuffed buffalo head was stuck on the wall. Gadget mistook the helpful Mexican for a M.A.D. Agent and took him to the Sheriff. Meanwhile, Bart noticed a young tourist girl with pigtails snooping on him and captured her, tying her to a chair. Dr. Claw complimented him on a job well done and told him to meet him at Dry Gulch with the money. Bart left town, carrying the entire Buffalo head with him, and stole the electric tourist coach. Brain, still dressed as a Mexican, grabbed onto the back of the coach after slipping away from Inspector Gadget.
Gadget used his Gadgetmobile to chase the coach, using various of the car's gadgets. Dr. Claw was waiting for Bart at Dry Gulch, but Penny took control of the electric coach, using her computer book and made the vehicle return to town. Chief Quimby and his men had just arrived in town with several cars. Penny managed to evade them, but crashed the coach into the side of the saloon. Inside, Bart was arrested by the town sheriff, who recovered the stolen money. Gadget was made an honorary deputy for his efforts.
