Ricardo is a character in Inspector Gadget. He appeared as a M.A.D. agent posing as a manager at High View hotel on Everest Island in the South Pacific.
Routine[]
Ricardo posed as the manager at M.A.D's High View hotel, located at the top of Everest Island in the South Pacific. Together with other M.A.D. Agents, they had been blasting the support of the island underwater in phases. By the time all of the support was gone, the island would sink to the bottom of the ocean, leaving only the top, including High View hotel, above water. All the other resorts would sink and be destroyed, leaving only M.A.D. in the luxury hotels business on Everest island.
When Inspector Gadget, his niece Penny and their dog Brain arrived on Everest Island, Ricardo ordered his accomplice, the M.A.D. Taxi Driver, to get rid of them. The Cab driver's first attempt failed, and Gadget arrived by Gadget 'Copter, carrying Penny and Brain. Ricardo told the cab driver he was an idiot for missing Gadget and then told Dr. Claw that he would elliminate Gadget himself. After checking that Gadget was asleep, Ricardo pushed a button hidden behind a painting in the hall which activated pointed spikes decending from above Gadget's bed. He returned to his post in the hotel lobby, saying "Sweet dreams, Inspector Gadget!"
The next day, Ricardo was astounded to find Gadget had somehow survived being impaled. When Gadget appeared at Ricardo's desk, his first reaction was to speed up to Gadgets room, where he saw that the mechanism had indeed crushed the bed. He then ran back over to answer Gadget's question about having received any threatening messages. Ricardo claimed not to have received any mail at all, then growled with anger and frustration as the Inspector left. When Claw contacted Ricardo, he explained Gadget's survival as being just a little technical problem. Claw was not interested in hearing the details, but ordered Ricardo to eliminate Gadget immediately. Ricardo tried to drive over the Inspector using a large snow plow, but Gadget activated his 'copter and flew off. Then a skier (actually Brain in disguise) hit Ricardo from behind and the M.A.D. manager ended up sitting on the front of Brain's skis. The snow plow began to slide down the mountain after them, and both ended up being thrown into the air, with Ricardo landing in the snow next to a palm tree, and Brain on top of it.
Ricardo returned to his post at the hotel, and was contacted by the Cab driver, who had located Gadget. Ricardo loudly ordered the driver to eliminate Gadget, and was overheard by Penny, who realized both men were M.A.D. Agents. Ricardo went down to the mine where the other M.A.D. Agents were managing the explosives. He contacted Dr. Claw to tell him they only needed one more shipment of explosives before they could sink the island and that everything was going according to plan. Ricardo then went back to the elevator, unaware he that Gadget's niece was snooping on him. Back up in the hotel, Ricardo was joined by M.A.D. Agent Fred in loading the last batch of explosives into the elevator. They hurried out after pushing the button. But below in the mines, Penny used her computer book to send the elevator filled with explosives back up. Instead of the island's foundation being destroyed, the High View hotel exploded and Ricardo was catapulted into the air with Fred and two demolition M.A.D. Agents as Claw escaped in the M.A.D. Jet, furious over his plans being thwarted again. He landed safely in the sea, but was immediately arrested by the Chief Quimby and members of the local police.[1]

Ricardo is a tall and thin man with short black hair and long pencil moustache. He wears a purple suit with a white waistcoat, green shirt, pink tie and pink high-heeled boots.
