History[]

Created by an unidentified M.A.D. Scientist, and called a "Secret Weapon" by Dr. Claw himself, the Robot Gadget was activated by it's creator in front of Claw at his castle. The Robot's main programming was to rob people of their money in order to discredit the real Inspector Gadget. M.A.D. Cat innitially mistook the robot for the real thing, and was not amused when the robot used it's water sprayer on him. Dr. Claw, however, thought the robot was "perfect".

Robot Gadget robbed the Metro City bank three times in a row. The first time, he destroyed the surveilance camera using his Gadget laser, produced a large sack from his hat and ordered the bank tellers to fill it with all their money, and also stole the carpet from the floor, art from the wall, a table and a plant before leaving the building.

Robot Gadget returned to the bank after it's gold reserved has just been replaced. This time he also took a counting machine, a book containing information about the bank's dealings, a lightbulb and a pair of curtains. Outside, with gold peeking out of a hole in the sack he was carrying, Robot Gadget also had a roled up carpet, a table and another plant with him. On the street, he was confrontbed by Chief Quimby and Gadget's niece Penny. Quimby asked if this was part of a plan to infiltrate M.A.D. But Robot Gadget used his water spray on the Chief and shrugged Penny off after she asked him to stop what he was doing. Quimby tried to console Penny by saying that Gadget probably acted this way because Dr. Claw was watching his every move.

Robot Gadget returned to the same bank for a third time at night. The bank manager, who was still present at this late hour, decided to quit his job at this point. There was not much left to robt at this point inside the bank, so Robot Gadget quickly left the building, carrying only one sack with coins and a potted cactus. Once again Chief Quimby tried to stop him, but the Chief ended up with the cactus on his head. When Robot Gadget entered the back of a pink van, Penny snuck quickly snuck in behind him without anyone noticing. When she tried to make contact with her 'uncle', the imposter's right arm fell off, and Penny understood he was just a robot.

While Robot Gadget was being recharged, Dr. Claw came up with a new plan: to have Robot Gadget kidnap the Shah of Freeland upon his arrival in Metro City. The scientist who had built the robot duplicate argued that the real Gadget had been arrested for bank robbery and was currently in jail. Claw ordered two of his Agents, Fred and Pops, to break the real Gadget out of jail so he would end up wanted for kidnapping as well as robbery. As soon as she was alone with the robot, Penny hooked it up to her computer book so she could take control of it. She had no time to test it, however.

M.A.D. Agents Jarvis and Dick took the Robot in the pink van to the airport where the Shah was to arrive at dawn. Penny once again hitch a ride, and because they were in such a hurry, the loot from the bank robbery had not yet been removed from the back of the van. Along the mountain path, the M.A.D. van almost collided with a M.A.D. truck being driven by Fred and Pops. The real Inspector Gadget, who was dressed as a gangster at the time, ended up in a puddle of mud on the road, and Penny ordered the Robot imposter to change clothes with her uncle. This way, Pops took Robot Gadget (now wearing the gangster's clothes) back to his truck while Dick escorted the real Gadget to the front of the van. Dr. Claw was enraged when Pops and Fred brought the robot before him instead of the real Gadget. Deciding to take matters into his own clawed hands, Dr. Claw boarded the M.A.D. Jet and ejected the robot out above the airport. The robot used it's Gadget Brella to safely land.

At the airport, clobbered Chief Quimby using his Gadget Mallet, grabbed the Shay by extended it's Gadget Arms around the man's waiste, and deployed the Gadget 'Copter. But Penny took command of the robot with her computer book, retracting the arms and copter and using the spings of it's Gadget Legs to propel it into the air. After making several loup de loups in the air, the robot chrash landed onto the real Gadget, who was tangled up with Jarvis, Dick and Brain thanks to his newst Gadget, the Gadget Bola-Balls. The impact of the robot's arrival on top of them knocked the others loose and onto their backs, while the robot ended up in a sitting position. Chief Quimby walked up to the robot, thinking it to be the real Gadget, to congratulate him. But when he shook it's hand, it came off. It remained sitting there, smoke coming out of it's defective parts.
