"Sleeping Gas" is the 22nd episode of the first season of Inspector Gadget. It is the 16th episode in production order.
Synopsis[]
Claw has invented a sleeping gas on a remote island in the South Pacific, and plans to use it knock out entire cities all over the world. It's up to Inspector Gadget to destroy this evil intention. In doing so, Gadget impersonates a tourist, where he sees virtually everyone asleep. A MAD agent attempts to throw gadget off the track by claiming the sleepiness is due to flies, and when Dr. Claw sees Gadget is poking around, he sees this as his chance to be rid of Inspector Gadget by putting him to sleep permanently.

Trivia[]
- This episode marks one of the few times in which Dr. Claw has actively tried to kill Penny herself rather than a number of times when she was with Gadget. It is also the only episode where M.A.D.'s attempt to execute Penny comes before she's captured.
- This is one of few episodes where Penny breaks free without any assistance after being successfully captured.
