Squirt is one of Dr. Claw's agents in Inspector Gadget.
Routine[]
Squirt is a M.A.D. agent who appears in various disguises on several missions.
Personality[]
Despite his diminutive size, Squirt is one of Dr. Claw's more capable henchmen. He was in charge at the farmhouse during the stolen missile case, and managed to lure Inspector Gadget into the missile and trap him inside.
History[]
Squirt was stationed at a farm just outside Metro City which had been taken over by Dr. Claw. The large silo next to the farm housed a stolen missile that Claw intended to launch at Metro City. Unlike his fellow agents, Squirt was not in disguise, but openly wore his M.A.D. uniform with a matching cap. Squirt appeared to have some authority over his colleagues Fred and Dick, as he was able to order them around as they unpacked various missile parts. When Inspector Gadget arrived, Squirt was on the lookout and used his walkie talkie to order one of the other Agents to "tell the boss that someone's snooping around". Inside the silo, Squirt lured Gadget into the warhead itself and locked him inside. However, the launch of the missile was aborted thanks to intervention from Penny and Brain.[1]
Together with Jarvis, Abdul, Dick and Pops, Squirt posed as a member of Amazon Annie's tribe while stationed in the Amazon jungle. As such, he wore only a grass skirt and sandals and had a small bone decorating his nose as well as a small strand of hair on top of his head. After Inspector Gadget accepted Annie's invitation to attend the tribe's Amazon sacrificial ritual, Squirt performed a ritual dance together with Jarvis and Pops. Together, they changed a song which sounded suspiciously like the Inspector Gadget theme. All of them were scared off by a brown gorilla (actually Brain in disguise) but soon resumed their efforts. However, Dr. Claw himself ordered Amazon Annie to stop the liquidation as he had need of Gadget at his Aztec Temple hideout. Disappointed, the entire M.A.D. tribe was left behind in the jungle.[2]
Squirt replaced a sailor on a cruise ship taken over by M.A.D. Agents and reported back to Dr. Claw in person together with Dick and Abdul. When the three of them gave the M.A.D. salute (a closed fist to the head), Squirt knocked himself out.[3]
Squirt disguised himself as a Wolfman in Dracula's Castle in order to scare off unwanted visitors. He admited to find the catacombs quite scary himself while reporting to Claw. He chased Brain towards Fred, who was disguised as Frankenstein's monster. But when Brain returned with a helmet's on his head, the two M.A.D. Agents became scared and ended up being chased around the cemetary by the dog instead. After Brain evaded the laserbeams that Dr. Claw started shooting from various towers, the police arrived on the scene and arrested the M.A.D. Agents.[4]
Squirt posed as a Clown on stilts at an amusement part near Metro City that Dr. Claw was holding to ransom with a bomb threat. When Inspector Gadget passed him in the park, Squirt growled at him. Then Dr. Claw contacted all his agents, including Squirt on a small radio receiver, and ordered them to keep Gadget busy. Gadget overheard the word "bomb" and chased after Squirt as he hurried away on his stilts. Passing a cable car, Squirt grabbed onto it and discarded his stilts. Gadget then produced a clamp from his hat to attach onto the cable car cables and follow Squirt. When Gadget crashed onto the cable car and held on by his hands, Squirt began to pry the Inspector's fingers lose. But Gadget grabbed onto the cable with his Gadget Cuffs, then used his propelling Gadget Arms to return to the cable car. Squirt bit one of Gadget's legs, and he fell off again, but made a safe landing thanks to his Gadget Brella.[5]
Squirt was one of various Agents who dressed up as Martians as a hoax to rob valuables all over Metro City. When Penny was captured by some of the Agents and put in their flying saucer, Squirt emptied some of the loot he had acquired into a safe deposit near her. Penny eventually caused the M.A.D. spaceship to crashland in front of the Metro City police station, Squirt ran out and gave himself up to the police after being scared by a "real" Martian (Inspector Gadget after bumping into some Martian costumes and some cans of paint).[6]
Together with Pops, Squirt removed a sign from a road that warned drivers about the endge of a cliff while fellow agent Abdul was chasing the Gadgetmobile accross the Egyptian desert. The Gadgetmobile drove off the cliff, but remained unharmed thanks to it's parachute attachment. Later, Squirt teamed with Dick, both disguised as ancient Egyptians, as they stole ancient artifacts from Pharaoh Poot-Ta-Toot's tomb. While carrying a sarcofagus, Squirt compained that he got the heavier end. But Dick reminded him that they flipped for it and that Squirt had gotten tails. While taking a break, they were scared by a the sudden appearance of a mummy, only to realize it was their fellow agent Fred. Still, Fred told them he had seen an actual mummy and the three of them decided to get out of there as quickly as possible. Squirt then found a young girl snooping around and took her captive. He tied the girl to a post, but when he sat down on the sarcofagus, was startled to see a canine shaped mummy entering the chamber and ran out. Squirt returned to fetch the sarcofagus with Dick and Fred, unaware that Inspector Gadget was now hiding inside. The Agents began to carry the sarcofagus again, but put it down when a disembodied voice, apparently of Poot-Ta-Toot himself, began to scold them and told them they were cursed. When the lid of the sarcofagus began to move, all three agents ran straight for the pyramid's exit, where they were arrested by Chief Quimby's men. [7]
Squirt was stationed at M.A.D. Mountain when Dr. Claw hijacked a train carrying computer parts and had it rerouted to his secret headquarters. As he prepared to unload the precious cargo from the train, he and several other Agents were told to get Inspector Gadget. Before they could do so, Penny re-hijacked the train using her computer book.[8]
Squirt posed as a Hotel Bellhop on one of the Boha Boha islands. The Hotel was equiped with various hidden devices that emited Dr. Claw's new powerful sleeping gas. When Jarvis, posing as the Hotel Social Director, showed Inspector Gadget the island's famous 'Sleeping Beauty' flowers, Squirt was ready with a large cushion to catch Gadget as soon as the gas knocked him out. But the Inspector thought he heard a fly and started waving his Gadget Swatter around. Squirt took a whiff of the sleeping gas and promptly fell aslweep. Later, the sleeping gas once more took Squirt as a victim on Dr. Claw's fake island factory, and Squirt was captured by the police in a net together with Jarvis and Dick, who were both also fast asleep.[9]
Located in the Swiss Alps, Squirt was ordered to keep Inspector Gadget in his sight from the moment he arrived in Switzerland, and remain with him until after the gold reserve was robbed by the Cuckoo Clockmaker. He reported back to Dr. Claw using a communicator after Gadget made contact with Chief Quimby and told Claw that he thought Gadget must be some kind of daredevil. Later, Squirt reported to Claw that Gadget still lived and was heading for the Clockmaker's factory.[10]
Squirt posed as an usher at La Scampi Opera House. He offered to show Inspector Gadget to his seat, but Gadget declined, saying he could find it himself. But after the Inspector entered the ladies restroom, a red-faced Gadget asked Squirt if he could find a better seat for him. Squart led "Signor Gadget" to a balcony seat and instructed him to take the middle chair, which was decorated with the M.A.D. symbol. Gadget handed Squirt a coin as a tip, for which Squirt thanked the Inspector with a bow. He chuckled and mentioned aloud that it would be "goodbye Gadget" as soon as he sat down. Brain overheard this and ended up falling down the trap door instead of Gadget. Later, Dr. Claw ordered all available M.A.D. Agents to get rid of Gadget, but for some reason, only Pops and Dick answered the call. Squirt did not show himself again for the rest of the mission.[11]
Squirt, Dick and Fred posed as Malaysian natives to protect and aid Claw's latest ally, the Wild Man of Borneo. Claw ordered them to man a missile launcher and fire a rocket at the Gadgetmobile, but an ox-pulled cart managed to get in the way. When Gadget stopped and got out to investigate, Fred told his fellow agents to flee, despite Claw telling them to get back to their posts and finish off Gadget. As the trio returned to the Wild Man's temple headquarters, Fred realized that Claw was going to be mad at them. Later, Squirt and Fred were handling the Wild Man's supply of jungle fever vials in his laboratory, unaware they were being observed by Gadget's niece, Penny. She used the laser from her computer watch to destroy a large beaker on a table. When the two agents rushed to investigate, Penny had the opportunity to steal a couple of vials. Then the Wild Man entered and ordered Squirt and Fred to bring a crate. Arriving at the cel, they found the door had already opened, and Gadget pushed Squirt and the Wild Man out of the way. The Wild Man told Fred and Squirt to find Gadget and bring him back. Gadget had conveniently circled back to the original cel, so Fred pushed Gadget into it. Squirt proposed they watched the Wild Man inject Gadget and Fred agreed. However, Gadget (with some help from Brain, now wearing the same disguise as the M.A.D. Agents) caused a commotion inside the cel and the Wild Man ended up injecting himself with the virus by accident. Fred and Squirt tried to trab Gadget, but he eluded them using his Gadget Legs. twice. All three of the M.A.D. Agents then began to move the afflicted prisoners to a M.A.D. helicopter, with Squirt telling the others to hurry. They were going to release the virus all over the world. Squirt personally loaded the last box filled with virus vials aboard the vehicle.[12]
In Romanovia, Claw took control of the Gadgetmobile's radar and sent it to an inn, where Abdul led a trio of M.A.D. musicians in Bavarian outfits. Squirt was loading a cannonball into a tuba and Lenny had laughing gas in his concertina. Abdul took the lead, counting off for the others to start playing, and was also the first to make an attempt on Gadget's life, by blowing a dart through his clarinet. Gadget was saved by a waiter (Brain in disguise) who pushed him out of the way, causing the dart to hit a plate instead. Lenny then released the laughing gas from his instrument, which soon had the Inspector, the waiter and all three musicians in stitches. Abdul couldn't help himself, but slapped Squirt on the back, causing him to fire the cannonball from his tuba. It missed Gadget, but caused a hole in the wall. The waiter made a run for it, with Gadget hot on his heels, leaving the three M.A.D. musicans still laughing. They stopped laughing when Dr. Claw reprimanded them for their failure via videophone.[13]
When M.A.D. opened the New Foods Dairy company, Squirt was one of several M.A.D. Agents driving vans filled with milk around Metro City. He wore a white milkman's uniform as he did so. He was unaware that he picked up a stowaway on one of his runs, namely Inspector Gadget's niece, Penny. Back at the M.A.D. dairy farm, Squirt was about to open the back of the truck when his fellow agent Bruce asked him to give him a hand. Squirt agreed to help, leaving the truck door open for Penny to slip out unnoticed.[14]
Squirt accompanied Abdul, who drove a large truck filled with explosives to Dr. Claw's island resort, the High View Hotel on Everest Island. But while climbing the mountain road, they spotted the M.A.D. Taxi cab and it's driver coming from the other way, with a lot of pink smoke (sleeping gas) emiting from it and a skier riding on top. Unable to swerve, Abdul honked his horn, and the cabbie awoke just in time to avoid a collision. The cab shot off the road, but the truck completed it's run to the High View Hotel.[15]
Squirt served as part of the ground crew for the jets that had been stolen from Pancake Flats Airforce base and taken to a secret M.A.D. hideout. Dr. Claw had put several of the base's pilots under his control using hypnotism, and Squirt told them to hurry up and exit their planes as soon as they arrived. The pilots were gathered together in one room and told to sit on a bench, so Squirt could order them to line up and give them a follow up injection with a mind-controlling drug. After completing this, he told them not to leave the room, then left. When Penny stole one of the jets, using her computer book, Squirt and Pops reported to Claw in person. When Claw pounced his fist on his desk, Squirt jumped into Pop's arms. Claw told them to send the other pilots after the stolen jet and shoot it down. Both agents gave the M.A.D. salute (a fist to the head). Back in the office where the pilots were still waiting, Squirt noticed that the mind control drugs were missing. He wanted to tell the boss, but Pops thought that would be crazy and that the pilots would return before it wore off. They sent the pilots out, and reported to Claw, who was angered to hear they didn't receive another dose. Indeed, the drugs soon wore off and the pilots returned to base.[16]
Squirt and Fred were assigned to help Dr. Stench in breaking into the Metro City gold reserve. Stench disabled the alarm from outside, and the trio entered the vault. They began to spray all the gold with a special substance invented by Stench, which made the gold turn green and give off an offending odor. Squirt and Fred were told to wear special masks to shield them from the stink, but Stench himself did not need any protection. Then they left, leaving all the worthless gold behind.
That night, Stench and his M.A.D. henchmen broke into Brix by using an oversized catapult to fire Squirt through the wall, then climbing in through an airduct. Stench warned his underlings to be carefull, for Gadget may be inside the vault, and indeed he was, flouting around after mistakingly inflating his Gadget Coat. Gadget struck up a conversation with Stench, leaving Squirt and Fred free to spray the gold with Stench's formula. Having climbed up onto a large stack of bullion, Squirt attempted to throw a gold bar at the Inspector, but was stopped by Brain, disguised as a janitor. He picked up the janitor and stuck him in a wall mounted vault, then closed the door and locked it. The three of them left the vault, leaving Gadget behind in perril, after finishing spraying all the gold.
The next day, the smelly gold was being transported to a base in the mountains by train, in order for scientists to remove the train. Claw informed Stench that the train was coming his way, just as planned. From a vantage point on top of a bridge, Stench, Squirt and Fred jumped onto the moving train, and began to knock out all the guards using a spray can filled with sleeping gas. When they were confronted with Gadget once again, Stench told Squirt and Fred to go detoxify the gold while he took care of Gadget. They began to change the gold back to normal by spraying it with the antidote. Soon the train arrived at the transfer point where several M.A.D. trucks were waiting to be filled with gold. Squirt told Fred it was time to load them, using a gimball to simply heave the contents from the train segments into the open trucks. Each of the agents then began to drive one of the trucks towards their M.A.D. destination. All three trucks ended up being linke together thanks to the bumbling efforts of Gadget. Then Penny used her computer book to gake control of the lead truck and redirect it back to Fort Brix, where Chief Quimby and his men were waiting to arrest the agents of M.A.D. [17]
Driving a crane with a wrecking ball and wearing construction worker clothing, Squirt was informed by Dr. Claw that Gadget and M.A.D. defector Nervous Nick DeFecto had entered an old abandoned factory. After giving the M.A.D. salute, Squirt told his boss it ought to be a laugh to literarly bring the house down on top of the two unsuspecting men. Squirt caused the wrecking ball to tear through the wall and out the other side, taking Gadget along for the ride. Up in the air, the Inspector activated his Gadget Coat and floated back towards the building, only to be hit by the wrecking ball once more and sent flying the other way. Brain, disguised as a construction worker, tried to get DeFecto out of the building, but was also hit by the wrecking ball and ended up sliding down a waste chute attached to the side of the building. A giggling Squirt reported to Claw that no one could have survived his onslaught, only to be proven wrong when he saw Gadget and DeFecto calmly exit the building and walk to the Gadget Van. Squirt flashed Claw a nervous grin, while being called a fool by his superior.[18]
